I was born in Warwick, Rhode Island, outside of Boston, the youngest of five. I was a beautiful baby and a wonderful childhood. Mom was the lead singer in a big band called "Doris and The Blue Notes". Dad was a TV producer of such hits as "Zoom" and "The Bozo Show", of which I starred, of course.
New England is a beautiful place - until it's not (Did I mention the snow?)
17 years ago, I got tired of the cold weather and moved to South Carolina, but it was cold there too! So, I hightailed it to Nosara, Costa Rica, where I stumbled upon a mountain paradise on the Pacific that became K-Rae's Irish Pub and Inn.
My pub with a pool in Costa Rica!
In the pilot, my friend and neighbor, Englishman Mike Murphy, stops by for some fruity beers and lively conversation about his world travels and what the monkeys do (or shouldn't do rather) in his pool. [15 mins]
Ryan Bombard brings his family by for a relaxing afternoon in the pool, rare indeed for the man who started the local fire department, the "Bomberos de Nosara". Ryan and I talk about fighting jungle fires and rescuing the four venomous snakes found in Nosara, just a few of the public services provided by this wonderful local organization. [20 mins]
My French Canadian pal, Chef Yan Michaud, stops by to chat about his new life in Nosara running Casa Vitality, the bed and breakfast he owns with his husband, Ryan. Yannick shows us how to make the simplest, most delicious bruschetta using ingredients that grow wild around the pub. [21mins]
